Rappelling is a challenge program available for Junior-Ambassador
Girl Scouts. Girls may register as a
troop or individually. Challenge
programs follow a “Challenge of Choice” program model, allowing each girl to
listen to her voice while facing a challenge, helping her to gain confidence
and courage to make her own choice when facing future challenges or difficult
This 2.5 hour
program (Camp Prairie Schooner) is led by adult volunteers and provides the
opportunity for girls to choose their challenge…. from learning about the
safety equipment, to controlling their ropes as they rappel from the top of a
40 foot tower to the ground.
What to bring: Girls should bring a water bottle
and wear long shorts/pants and closed toed shoes. Tie back long hair and dress
for the weather.
Troops must provide
adults within safety ratios, including a first aider.
