Bike It!

Grades 8-11
(as of 3/1/14)
Session 4
Cost: $350$500

Bicycling is a growing mode of transportation, is great exercise, and is just plain fun!  Bring your bike to camp for a week full of bike related adventures. Learn basic bike maintenance and repair like how to fix a flat tire, learn about cycling “rules of the road,"and ride with your group around camp. Then—load up and hop on a bus for a day trip to ride on the Landon Nature Trail in Topeka. Of course, you’ll have plenty of time for traditional camp activities like boating, campfire cooking, hanging out with friends and cooling off at the sprayground.

Campers in this program must bring their own bicycle to camp. Mountain bikes or the equivalent are required, as riding will occur on dirt and gravel surfaces. Helmets are required!

Sessions 2, 4, 5
Cost: $350$500

Are you a horsewoman?  Interested in working with horses AND sharing your knowledge with younger Girl Scouts?  The Wranglers program will give you an opportunity to increase your horsemanship skills and knowledge.  If you love horses and want to continue in the Wranglers program during the school year, then this is the place for you!  You will have the opportunity to ride and work around horses each day, help with daily chores, and assist young riders.  After camp, continue honing your skills by assisting for at least six weekend days during weekend horse program at Camp Winding River in Dearborn, MO from September 2014-May 2015.

Wranglers will be put in riding groups based upon experience and prior participation in the Wranglers program.  Previous horseback riding experience is required.  Campers in this program may sleep in pitched tents.
