Additional Information:  Please note that Girl Scouts will not achieve all steps of the badges in these workshops, but will be given the tools to complete their badge work on their own or within troop meetings. 

Program Name:  Public Speaking Badge

Who:  Cadette

When: Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

What:  This workshop for Cadettes will explore theatre arts by working with

  • an actor or director to practice vocal theatre warm up exercises (“Find Your Voice”) and to rehearse cold readings (“Get a Feel for Performing Solo”)
  • an actor or director to practice physical theatre exercises and games (“Focus on Body Language”)
  • an actor or director to rehearse cuttings (“Choose or Create a Piece to Perform”) and readers theatre  (“Get Onstage”)

Sample cuttings will be sent to troop leaders prior to the workshop for the girls who will attend; Girl Scouts should bring the cuttings with them.
Registrations due by September 26.

Program Name:  Junior A’Muse Workshop

Who:  Junior

When: Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

What:  Girl Scout Juniors will enjoy a workshop which ties to their Journey A’Muse through taking on new roles and working through a couple of steps for the badge “Playing the Past”. At the workshop Scouts will explore theatre arts by working with

  • a stage make-up artist to design a make-up poster and to apply make-up to a paper actor
  • an actor or director to practice vocal and physical theatre warm up exercises and games 
  • a costumer to create a costume chart and costume, using items from the RRT costume shop

Before coming to the workshop, each Scout should research 1 or 2 historical characters to focus on at the workshop.

Program Name:  Fair Play and Dancer Badges

Who:  Brownie

When: Saturday, October 24 from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm

What:  Brownies can enjoy this theatre workshop where they will explore theatre arts while working on steps for their Fair Play and Dancer Badges.  Girl Scouts will engage with

  • an actor or director to practice theatre games
  • an actor or director to practice theatre warm-up exercises 
  • an actor or choreographer to learn a dance

If possible, Brownies will tour the set of RRT’s production of The Addams Family which will open October 24 in the adjoining historic Missouri Theatre.
Registrations due by October 17.
