The Kansas City Zoo offers a variety of opportunities for Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts including workshops, overnights, and Zoomobiles Overnights are also available for Brownie and Juniors. Below are the descriptions.
All Levels: Scout Day at the Zoo!
All Girl Scouts in uniform and their immediate family only will receive a $4.00
admission fee all day. Jackson and Clay
County, Missouri Residents will receive a $3.00 admission fee all day (please
bring utility bill/drivers license to confirm the address). There will be Girl Scout activities in the
Deramus Lobby between the hours of 10am and 2pm. Zoo patches will be available for purchase in
the Gift Shop.

Daisy: "3 Cheers for Animals" Workshop
This 2 hour Daisy workshop covers concepts that will help girls with their 3 Cheers for Animals Journey. Girls will have fun learning about animals and nature as well as understanding how the zoo takes care of their animals. Each girl will receive a journal containing activity pages that reinforce each concept discussed.
- WORKSHOPS: April 19 and May 17 from 10am – 12pm.
- OVERNIGHTS: Daisy overnights will be available soon.
Brownie: Wetland Wonders Workshop or Overnight
Girls will discover the wonderful world of wetlands and learn about the animals that live in these ecosystems as well as wetland conservation. This program is designed to help girls on their “Wonders of Water" journey. Each girl will receive a journal containing activity pages that reinforce each concept discussed.
- OVERNIGHTS: April 11 and May 9 from 7pm – 8am.
Junior: Eco Explorers Workshop or Overnight
Girls will go on a "Rainforest Safari" as they learn about the rainforest and the animals and plants that inhabit this ecosystem to help them obtain their Animal Habitats badge. Each girl will receive a journal containing activity pages that reinforce each concept discussed.

PRIVATE WORKSHOPS: minimum of 10 girls required)
PRIVATE OVERNIGHTS: minimum of 20 people (includes girls and adults)
Troops can also have the zoo come to them. Through the Zoomobile program, the zoo’s education staff will come to troop meetings or service unit events and bring animals, biofacts like animal skins, skeletons, feathers and other things you might not be able to come in contact with in a natural or even zoo environment. Program topics can vary upon request. For Jackson and Clay county troops, the Zoomobiles are free once a year. For troops in other counties the cost starts at $125 per visit. COST OF WORKSHOPS:
Girl Fee: $15 ($13.50 FOTZ members)
Adults are free.
Cost includes workshop and all needed supplies. It does not include zoo admission.
COST OF OVERNIGHTS:
Cost per person: $30 per person ($27 FOTZ Members). Cost includes breakfast and all supplies. It does not include admission to the zoo. Troops must maintain adult/girl ratios but at minimum 1 chaperone per 10 girls required.
