The mission of the Kansas City Zoo is to conserve and provide access to wildlife to entertain and educate our visitors in order to instill a respect for nature.

  • BrownieJuniorCadetteSeniorAmbassador

    Girl Scouts will discover the world of maps, coordinates and GPS Units. Decorate a Trackable Digital Bug and explore the zoo using GPS units to locate hidden cache boxes.

  • Daisy

    ​This two-hour workshop explores animal basic needs, feeding and communication. Each Girl Girl Scout will receive a journal containing activity pages that will help them begin (but not complete) their 3 Cheers for Animals Journey.

    Time: Feb 11, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm; March 11, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm; April 8, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm & 2:00 - 4:00 pm; May 13, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm & 2:00 - 4:00 pm

  • Daisy

    ​Overnight includes a two-hour workshop (that explores animal basic needs, feeding and communication), a night hike, small snack and continental breakfast in the morning (Cereal, bagels, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt).

  • Brownie

    ​This two-hour workshop will help Brownies begin (but not complete) their Wonders of Water Journey badge. Discover the water cycle and learn the importance of wetlands in the ecosystem. Each Girl Scout will receive a journal containing activity pages that will help them begin (but not complete) their Wonders of Water Journey.

    Time: March 3 & April 1, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm; May 6, 2:00 - 4:00 pm

  • Junior

    ​In this 2 hour workshop, Girl Scouts will go on a learning safari as they explore the rainforest while learning about the animals and plants that live there. Girl Scouts will also make an animal home to help them begin (but not complete) the requirements for their Animal Habitats badge.

    Time: Feb 4, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm; April 1, 2:00 - 4:00 pm; May 6, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

  • BrownieJunior

    ​Overnight includes a two-hour workshop a night hike, small snack and continental breakfast in the morning (Cereal, bagels, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt). Each Girl Scout will receive a journal containing activity pages that will help them begin (but not complete) their Wonders of Water Journey or Animal Habitat Badge. Sleeping facilities will be in the Zoo Learning Center. 

    Time: April 7 & April 29, 7:00 pm - 8:00 am

  • JuniorCadetteSeniorAmbassador

    ​Overnight includes a three-hour workshop, small snack, tent camping and continental breakfast in the morning (Cereal, bagels, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt). Each girl will receive a journal containing activity pages that reinforce each concept discussed. Sleeping facilities will be in the African Campground.  Participants will need to supply their own tents and sleeping bags.

    Troops can also have the zoo come to them. Through the Zoomobile program, the zoo’s education staff will come to troop meetings or service unit events.
