The success of Girl Scouting relies on careful selection and placement of volunteers. In order to ensure qualified leadership, Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri utilizes an application process.
Our application helps us understand what you are looking for in your volunteer experience, as well as providing basic information about you. It will help us connect your background check results with the correct local troop or service unit.
In order to assure the safety and well-being of the members of Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri, all adult volunteers who will interact with girls are required to complete a background check upon application and every three years thereafter.
The council reserves the right to disqualify or restrict the volunteer activities of any person who has been convicted of certain crimes; is listed (or lives in the same residence with anyone who is listed) on state or federal sex offender registries; who has pled guilty or no contest to certain crimes; who has been placed on probation; or is currently facing charges for certain crimes, in its sole discretion, based on the information before it.
Background checks may include, but are not limited to: county, state, and federal criminal records; driving violations; and state and federal sex offender registries.
The council will maintain the confidentiality of all criminal background check information. When a volunteer is restricted or disqualified from a volunteer position, staff and volunteer leaders are only notified of the restriction/disqualification, not the details of the background check.
