Here are several great opportunities for Girl Scouts to travel out of our council area. Most of these are great weekend trips and many involve overnight stays. Don’t forget to have parent permission forms filled out for any of these events. Also, check your Safety-Wise book for more information about travel and double-check your trips meets the Girl Scout Safety Standards.

 
Arbor Day Farm – Nebraska City, Neb.
An attraction that surrounds you, touches all your senses, and captivates you with fun and discovery - every time you visit. Girl Scouts have the opportunity to work on several different Try-Its, Badges, or Interest Project Patches. Girls can also have an overnight at Arbor Day Farms.

Rolling Hills Zoo – Salina, Kan.

Maxwell Wildlife Refuge – Canton, Kan.
This is a chance to see bison and elk in the Kansas Prairie. Girl Scouts have the opportunity to get a "hands on" experience of the Kansas prairie, as it would have appeared in the1800's.

Brownie, Junior, and Teen overnight opportunities where girls can complete activities related to one of the following: Space Explorer Try-It, Science Sleuth Badge, Sky Search Badge, Aerospace Badge, and Space Exploration Interest Project Patch.

St. Louis Science Center – St. Louis, Mo.
Bring your Girl Scout troop and “camp-in” overnight at the Science Center! Designed for school age youths in grades 2- 6 and their teachers, parents and/or scout leaders, Camp-Ins are a great way to earn badges and explore the Science Center after hours. Sleep under the stars at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Take in an Omnimax® movie. Do fun take-home activities. Use our galleries to complete requirements towards earning badges! King Tut Exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art – Dallas, Tex.
Come see over 130 amazing artifacts belonging to Tutankhamun and his royal ancestors, many never before seen outside of Egypt. Featured objects include Tutankhamun’s royal crown, or “diadem” as well as a ceremonial dagger found on the mummy of Tutankhamun. Exhibit runs from October 3, 2008 to May 17, 2009.

City Museum – St. Louis, Mo.
Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children's playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects. Girl Scouts have the opportunity to spend the night at the museum as well as work on various Petals, Try-Its, Badges, and Interest Projects.
