Bridging the Gap

Not sure what events to plan for your next troop meeting? Check out a Bridging the Gap (BTG) activity tub! This program promotes the idea that every woman and girl can enjoy and excel in science, math, engineering, and technology.

BTG Tubs are especially designed for troops to easily explore the world of science while earning Girl Scout recognition such as a badge or Try-It. Tubs can be requested and checked out from your Service Unit’s BTG Coordinator. Click here to see the date for the next Tub exchange!

Each Tub includes detailed instructions and non-consumable or difficult-to-obtain materials used to complete the activities. Several tubs for each program age level of Girl Scouting are available. Check out the list below!

Daisies

Color Wonders
Daisy Girl Scouts explore the magic of color mixing and separation by making their own “rainbow stew”, a colorful coffee filter butterfly and other related activities.

Brownies

My Body
Learn about brain power, reflexes, taking your pulse, and how to stay fit.
Numbers and Shapes Explore origami, Mobius strips, jigsaw puzzles, shapes in our world and math shapes.
Science Wonders
Discover crystals, bubbles, paper-making, chemistry magic, magnetic fun and static electricity. This is a fun one!
Senses
Activities include make a better ear, visual tricks, tongue mapping and more.

Juniors

Aerospace
Learn about building and flying a kite, paper airplanes, space launch and landings, eating in space and young astronaut training. Blast Off!
Discovering Technology
Make a robot snack, find out what ‘pulley power’ means, experiment with light bulbs and LEDS!
Geology
Collect rocks, learn the rock cycle, sort sand and check out some fossils.
Weather Watch
Learn about weather trends, cloud watching and weather stations.

Teens

Eco-Action
This tub will give your troop the materials and instruction to fulfill several requirements for the “Eco-Action” Interest Project Patch.
Math, Maps & More
Create a budget using a price list, maps, or computer software. Learn how to read a map, use graphs to illustrate an issue you feel is important and make future projections.
Build a Better Future
Learn about CAD (Computer Aided Design) programs and use it to make a design of your own, find out about five devices used to assist people with disabilities, and design your own amusement park ride!
Space Exploration
Find out more about today’s telescopes, design a human space colony, construct a ‘flying object’, learn about quasars, pulsars, novas and black holes.
