Research indicates that financial literacy is a growing social and economic dilemma among all ages in the United States. The solution is instruction - starting at an early age and continuing throughout the formative years of an individual's life.
Financial literacy has an impact on the life of everyone. This patch program was developed to provide opportunities that will help girls learn to use their financial resources wisely.
The program consists of three different requirements that allow girls to experience age appropriate activities related to financial literacy. Program kits are also available for checkout with additional hands on activities.
Sample Activities
Daisy/Brownie - Types of Money, Shopping Decisions, Setting up a Pretend Store, and Story Time
Junior - Need vs. Want, Types of Advertisements, Making Piggy Banks, Money-related Board Games, Spending Plans and Field Trips to Local Banks
Cadette, Senior, & Ambassador - Checking Accounts & Debit/ATM Cards, Credit Scores & Credit Cards, Identity Theft, Visiting the Federal Reserve, Basics of a Loan, Budgeting, and the Stock Market
