Checkout Equipment

Check-Out Items and Procedures

Listed below are equipment items available for check-out through the council office. Once you decide that you would like to check out equipment, please follow the guidelines listed below.
  1. Determine which equipment you would like to check out.
  2. Contact the council office by phone (816) 358-8755, ext. 3002 or e-mail bussup@girlscoutsksmo.org.
  3. When placing your request to check out equipment, please be sure to list the following info in your voice mail or e-mail:
    • Equipment requested
    • Date equipment is picked up/Date equipment is returned
    • Your name
    • Your troop number
    • Phone number and/or e-mail address
  4. Once your request has been approved you will receive notification by phone or e-mail.
  5. All equipment must be picked -up and dropped-off a the council office during regular business hours.
  6. Equipment may be checked out by registered adult Girl Scouts only.
  7. Equipment may be checked out for one week at a time.

Science Equipment in check-out!

Help your troop have fun while at the same time learn how math and science apply to everyday life. The following science equipment is available through your Service Unit’s science consultant. If you are not sure who your science consultant is, please contact alexisdenny@girlscoutsksmo.org


‘Bridging the Gap’ Science Tubs:

Daisy
Color Wonders – Daisy Girl Scouts explore the magic of color mixing and separation by making their own “rainbow
stew”, a colorful coffee filter butterfly and other related activities.

Brownie
My Body – Learn about brain power, reflexes, taking your pulse, and how to stay fit.
Numbers and Shapes – Explore origami, Mobius strips, jigsaw puzzles, shapes in our world and math shapes.
Science Wonders – Discover crystals, bubbles, paper-making, chemistry magic, magnetic fun and static electricity. This is a fun one!
Senses – Activities include make a better ear, visual tricks, tongue mapping and more.

Junior
Aerospace – Learn about building and flying a kite, paper airplanes, space launch and landings, eating in space and young astronaut training. Blast Off!
Discovering Technology – Make a robot snack, find out what ‘pulley power’ means, experiment with light bulbs and LEDS!
Geology – Collect rocks, learn the rock cycle, sort sand and check out some fossils.
Weather Watch – Learn about weather trends, cloud watching and weather stations.


Cadette and Senior
Eco-Action – This tub will give your troop the materials and instruction to fulfill several requirements for the “Eco-Action” Interest Project Patch.
Math, Maps & More – Create a budget using a price list, maps, or computer software. Learn how to read a map, use graphs to illustrate an issue you feel is important and make future projections.
Build a Better Future – Learn about CAD (Computer Aided Design) programs and use it to make a design of your own, find out about five devices used to assist people with disabilities, and design your own amusement park ride!
Space Exploration – Find out more about today’s telescopes, design a human space colony, construct a ‘flying object’, learn about quasars, pulsars, novas and black holes.
